Estas plataformas expandiram a influência e a esfera dos movimentos sociais. Sobretudo nos países em que os media estão debaixo de control do estado, os media sociais ajudam os ativistas a espalhar a sua voz e a terem mais apoio social. Este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar a influência dos media sociais, particularmente o Twitter, durante os protestos do Parque Gezi em maio de 2013. Neste caso de estudo, analisei Tweets que foram enviados nos primeiros dez dias dos acontecimentos e tentei encontrar a razão de ser do uso do Twitter por quem protestava e apoiava o movimento com a ajuda de análise de enquadramento e conteúdo. Ao entrar no século XXI, o mundo passou de uma sociedade industrial para uma sociedade da informação. Na sociedade industrial a informação era sobretudo monopolizada pelos mass media. No entanto, com o grande desenvolvimento da tecnologia wireless a distribuição da informação ficou mais rápida do que nunca e tecnologias móveis altamente desenvolvidas permitiram que pessoas comuns tivessem acesso à informação com facilidade. A este respeito, tornou-se óbvio que a internet e os media sociais tiveram um papel muito importante no desenvolvimento social, na comunicação e nas redes sociais. As razões para a utilização destas plataformas são várias , mas podemos afirmar que o objetivo do utilizador é alcançar o maior número possível de indivíduos para que estes tenham uma consciência coletiva acerca das condições da democracia e para que exista uma agenda sociai e política aplicável na realidade.One thing is certain that, recently, social media has been taking an essential role in the new social movements all around the world. These platforms have expanded the influence and sphere of social movements. Especially in the countries with media that is under state control, social media channels help the activists to spread their words and to get more public support. This work aims to analyze the influence of social media, specifically Twitter, during the Gezi Park protests in Turkey in May, 2013. In this case study, I studied tweets that have been sent during the first ten days of events and tried to find the intended purpose of Twitter usage by the protesters and supporters of the movement with the help of content and frame analysis. While entering the 21st century, the world have transformed from an industrial society to an information society. In the industrial society, information was mostly monopolized by big mass media groups. However, with the significant development of wireless technologies, the distribution of the information became faster than ever and highly developed mobile technologies, storage and communication facilities allowed ordinary people to access information with ease. In this respect, it is obvious that internet and social media have had remarkable roles in social development, communication and social networking.
