Dado que a Bacia do Alentejo está inserida no contexto evolutivo das margens passivas não vulcânicas Ibérica e Terra Nova, pressupõe-se que partilhem o mesmo potencial em hidrocarbonetos. Esta análise foi realizada através da correlação estratigráfica do conteúdo sedimentar no onshore e no offshore, com base em dados sísmicos, de poços de sondagem e de afloramentos. Para um melhor entendimento do conteúdo dinâmico e estratigráfico da Bacia do Alentejo foi necessário relacioná-la com outras bacias peri-atlânticas da Margem Ocidental Portuguesa, em particular a Bacia Lusitânica. Para a realização do estudo procedeu-se à revisão bibliográfica da estratigrafia da Bacia do Alentejo, com base em afloramentos e furos de sondagens, seguida pela análise e interpretação sismoestratigráfica de dados de aquisição sísmica de offshore, no software PETREL® Schlumberger 2017, de modo a identificar as unidades presentes nos dois setores.Os resultados obtidos a partir da compilação de dados de origem sísmica, de afloramentos e de furos de sondagem são referentes à margem proximal interior da bacia e permitiram correlacionar os domínios onshore e offshore raso da mesma. Uma vez que foram identificadas unidades estratigráficas equivalentes e suas respetivas discordâncias limitantes no onshore e no offshore raso, estabeleceu-se um pressuposto de continuidade das unidades até à margem distal da bacia, de acordo com a Estratigrafia das Sequências.O conhecimento pormenorizado da evolução geodinâmica e estratigráfica da Bacia do Alentejo é fundamental para compreender o seu modelo de enchimento sedimentar e o estabelecimento de uma correlação estratigráfica entre os diferentes setores da bacia permitindo, assim, a construção de modelos preditivos do seu potencial em hidrocarbonetos.This thesis concerns on expanding the stratigraphic knowledge of the Alentejo basin, as well as its geodynamic evolution and its hydrocarbon potential. Considering that the Alentejo basin is related with the non-volcanic passive conjugate margins Iberia and Newfoundland and it is speculated that these margins share the same hydrocarbon potential. This study concerns essentially a stratigraphic correlation of the basin’s sedimentary infill in its onshore and shallow offshore domains from seismic legacy data, boreholes and outcrops. In order to fully understand its stratigraphy it was necessary to compare Alentejo basin with other Portuguese meso-cenozoic sedimentary basins such as the Lusitanian basin. To accomplish the investigation firstly it was necessary to review and gather information from the basin’s outcrops and boreholes, followed by an offshore seismic stratigraphy analysis and interpretation in software PETREL® Schlumberger 2017, in order to identify units in both sectors. The results obtained from this compilation of seismic legacy data, outcrops and boreholes allows for the dynamics of the inner proximal margin of Alentejo basin to be acknowledge along with a correlation model between the onshore and offshore domains.
