Europa. «É a arte, estúpido!»

The European project is currently experiencing a profound crisis, brought about, on the one hand, by its incapacity to capitalize on the richness inherent in its cultural and linguistic diversity and, on the other hand, its inability to juggle with the notion of belonging to a transnational community and simultaneously belonging to a particular country. Which is, then, the instrument we can all fall back on so as to bring into this very same space – while attempting to foster an interaction between these languages and cultures – which are, in essence, the richness and ultimate purpose of this Europe? It is theater, the privileged medium, which can clearly fulfill such an intersection of worlds!The theatrical project, «Europa, és tão linda» (“Europe, You Are So Beautiful”), is one of the first attempts in this regard, which stresses how art is a galvanizing force par excellence and how it can be further enhanced to carry out such a European project.
