Resumo: In a phase of globalization, where competition grows exponentially, the emergence of new products on the market, which are increasingly cheaper, is a constant challenge for manufacturing companies. To overcome these challenges, companies are forced to invest in innovation and development of new products. Consequently, manufacturing companies are regularly adding new production lines to their shop floor or restructuring and adapting the existing ones. This thesis presents a study for a Small and Medium-sized Enterprise (SME) in the electronics industry, which taking advantage of the need to redesign the shop floor layout due to the recent insertion of a production line, decided to optimize the layout of the existing production lines. To this end, studies were carried out under three different production lines, applying layout design techniques such as Empirical Models, Systematic Layout Planning and Lean Facility Layout System, and Assembly Line Balancing techniques.
