Resumo: For those not connected to the practice of photography, but that still have interest about it, may they be historians, archives staff or conservators is difficult to understand and appreciate the work of the retoucher from the early XX century. The discoveries made of the potential of retouching negatives by hand were no less then surprising under the light of what can be done today by means of the computer. This subject isn’t there for, just acuriosity for a small group of researchers but a theme with contemporary interest.

This subject isn’t there for, just acuriosity for a small group of researchers but a theme with contemporary interest.Para aquellos que no están relacionados con la práctica de fotografía, pero que aún así tienen interés por ella, bien sean historiadores, archiveros o conservadores, es difícil entender y apreciar el trabajo del retocador fotográfico de los inicios del siglo XX. Los descubrimientos hechos en este trabajo ponen en evidencia las potencialidades del retoque manual, cuyos resultados no son menos que sorprendentes que los que actualmente se logra con el ordenador. Por tanto consideramos que este tema no es solo una curiosidad para un pequeño grupo de investigadores sino que es un tema de interés actual.Para aqueles que não estão ligados à prática da fotografia, mas que ainda assim têm interesse por esta, sejam Historiadores, funcionários em arquivos ou Conservadores Restauradores, é difícil entender e apreciar o trabalho de um retocador de negativos do início do século XX. A descoberta das potencialidades do retoque manual não foi menos que surpreendente à vista do que actualmente se consegue por manipulação digital.
