Resumo: The object of this dissertation for Master Degree in Architecture is the work of architect Paulo Mendes da Rocha, focusing on his collective and single-family housing projects from the early 1960s until the end of the 1980s. The first part of this research highlights, on a retrospective, the typological evolution of the Brazilian house, beginning in the colonial period and reaching its highest expression upon the introduction of Modern Architecture in Brazil. Starting from the analysis of six case studies, the second part of this work intended an approach to the work of Paulo Mendes da Rocha, whose largest experimental field was the domestic program, relating it to issues that dominated or conditioned its project decisions.
