n recent years, as antiretroviral drugs have become less toxic and easier to take, HIV treatment is able not only to prolong life but also to provide better quality of life. Although large resources are involved, the cost is worthy not only in human but also in economical terms. The development of strategies that maintain adherence to treatment are of pivotal importance for long time efficacy.The aim of this work is to characterize the logistics of an Immunodeficiency Treatment Unit, describing human and material resources involved, and evaluating ambulatory treatment costs for HIV patients. The ability of hospital structures to adapt to a changing reality is a challenge that needs an urgent answer.
