The analysis of the domestic space is based on standard multifamily housing. This study addresses to the question of identity and to the role of the domestic architecture on the formation of individual identity. Through the individual's interaction with his/her house and with the support of the latter to the inhabitant throughout his/her continuous identity process, it is possible to establish evidences or correspondences between identity and space. The interiorizing of the daily life has given more relevance to the domestic space, the growing role of the domesticity leads to a questioning about its affective influence on the individuals. This work aims to point out which elements inside of the houses allow for adaptation of the diverse individuals and families to their space, such as a family's domestic life where each individual identity is respected and potentiated. The prior assimilation of the recent social, familiar and individual phenomenon from the social sciences point of view, including sociology, was indispensable to the construction of this issue. Thus this study sought for the devices capable of creating suitable environments to the emerging necessities of the new individuals. After understanding the theoretical basis, it was built a practical analysis based on the plans of several dwellings, whose characteristics have served as a "proof" to the competency of the domestic architecture in this field. Two positive aspects to the individual's were highlighted and defended: the spatial complexity and ambiguity, seen as an instrument of solving the increasingly diverse modes of dwelling, and of the growing needs in terms of identity of individuals.
