Resumo: | The major goal of geographical education today is to prepare young people for life in a constantly changing world, in other words, prepare them to the future. Through Geography, we can educate for citizenship, for sustainability, and for a technological world, educate for the spiritual, moral, social and cultural dimensions and also for a globalized world. Teachers must to develop geographical thinking in students through their teaching activity and help them to develop their reasoning and conceptions with regard to space. The Masters History and Geography teaching course aims to prepare students teachers to be active participants in the design and management of the applied curriculum, so that they can understand and work with different curriculum conceptions, always maximizing the educational potential of Geography. Students can therefore expect not only didactical preparation for managing the current curriculum design, but also a conceptual framework and procedural tools that enable future teachers to cope with the work related to teaching, using their know-how and skills. Our research wants understand the students representations of Geography, Geography Education, and understand their conceptions on how Geography should be taught. In spite these students are concern with the validity of scientific training offered in the minor in Geography or in the minor of History, want to deep their dual training from scientific and didactical point of view. Concerning their thoughts about how should be Geography be taught, all think that is necessary highlight the link the students reality and day life and the role of the teachers and their teacher methods. For them Geography is a global and encompassing science, studies the Earth and the physical and human phenomena that occur, as well as, their interrelation. Is the science of territory. |
