Este relatório tem por base a casuística do estágio curricular que decorreu no Hospital Veterinário do Porto entre 1 de setembro de 2015 e 29 de fevereiro de 2016, num total de seis meses, sob orientação do Doutor Luís Lobo, e objetiva a conclusão do Mestrado Integrado em Medicina Veterinária. O relatório é constituído por duas partes: a primeira respeita à casuística acompanhada no decorrer do estágio, enquanto que a segunda representa uma revisão bibliográfica subordinada ao tema “Complexo Hiperplasia Quística do Endométrio - Piómetra na cadela”, procedida da discussão de dois casos clínicos ilustrativos da afeção, e que foram acompanhados pela autora no âmbito do estágio. A piómetra é uma afeção uterina importante nos cães pela sua grande prevalência e, porque colocando em risco a vida do animal, exige uma atuação rápida. Para atuar é fundamental conhecer a sua fisiopatologia, bem como as melhores abordagens diagnósticas, tratamento e monitorização da situação; Abstract: Small Animal Practice - The current repost reflects the caseload observed during the curricular traineeship at the Hospital Veterinário do Porto from the first of September 2015 to the 29th of February 2016, for a total period of six months. The traineeship occurred under the supervision of Doctor Luís Lobo. This report was conducted in the context of the Integrated Master in Veterinary Medicine and is divided in two sections. The first section presents the caseload observed during the traineeship, while the second section represents a monography addressing the topic “Cystic Endometrial Hyperplasia – Pyometra complex in the bitch”, whitch is followed by the discussion of two clinical cases observed during the training. Pyometra is an important uterine disease in canine medicine because of its high prevalence and by putting at risk the animal life, consequently requiring fast intervention, for which it is essential to know their pathogenesis, diagnostic, treatment and monitoring.
