Cooperation Between Research Groups on Strategy in Brazil

Resumo: The purpose of this study was to identify how cooperation between research groups on strategy in Brazil occurs. Cooperation is defined as the share of scientific publications among group members. Thus, was considered 474 publications, in the period 2005 to 2011, from researchers and students of 21 scientific research groups. Based on the social networks analysis, the networks formed by research groups and by 57 other research institutions were characterized. The results indicate the existence of sparse networks, with a predominance of weak ties and center-periphery structure type. The central groups are the ones who publish more with international institutions, which seems to indicate that these groups obtain both benefits associated with the central position, and benefits for the connection to peripheral actors. The central groups are those who publish the most, suggesting that connectivity tends to potentially increase the scientific production on strategy, a phenomenon that has been observed in others areas of knowledge.

Para tanto, foram consideradas 474 publicações, no período de 2005 a 2011, de membros de 21 grupos formais de pesquisa. Com base na análise de redes sociais, foram caracterizadas as redes formadas por grupos de pesquisa e outras instituições, considerando coautorias em publicações científicas. Os resultados indicam a existências de redes esparsas, com predomínio de ligações fracas e estruturas do tipo centro-periferia. Os grupos mais centrais são os que mais se envolvem com instituições externas, o que parece indicar que esses grupos obtêm tanto benefícios associados à posição de centralidade, quanto benefícios referentes à conexão com atores periféricos.
