Resumo: The aim of this study was to present the main anatomical and physiological characteristics of the olfactory system of dogs, making them an agile and reliable tool to detect odors of human interest. The current uses of detection dogs and the environmental, operational and behavioral factors that can affect their performance during odor detection tasks were also evaluated.
