The phenomenological method as a possibility for research in physical education

Resumo: | The present study sought to describe the phenomenological method applied to the survey and treatment of data from a research in Physical Education. The text discussed phenomenology as a method, described a possible collection procedure and exemplified processes of nomothetic and ideographic analysis using, as empirical data, a study carried out within the scope of a master’s course, with emphasis on the theme of Dance. This master’s thesis aimed to understand the perception of practitioners, teachers and coordinators of gyms about dance. The phenomenological method was constituted based on the presentation of sufficiently described and justified methodological procedures, which differ from content analysis and wich reinforce criteria and carefully organized execution procedures, in line with what the theoretical-philosophical basis of phenomenology suggests for studies in Physical Education. |

O texto discutiu sobre a fenomenologia como método, descreveu um procedimento de recolha e exemplificou processos da análise nomotética e ideográfica, utilizando, como dados empíricos, um estudo realizado no âmbito de um curso de mestrado, com ênfase para a temática sobre a Dança. A referida dissertação de mestrado teve como objetivo compreender a percepção sobre a dança de praticantes, professores e coordenadores de academias de ginástica.
