Integral care to the mental health of adolescents in conflict with the law in deprivation of liberty: an evaluation under the perspective of professionals at the center for psychosocial care for children and youth in Foz do Iguaçu

Resumo: This study sought to understand how the right and access of adolescents in conflict with the law deprived of liberty to comprehensive health care in the municipality of Foz do Iguaçu-PR has been implemented, based on documentary research and interviews with the mental health professionals who work at the Children's Psychosocial Care Center - CAPSi. It was concluded that, despite the advances made, the right to health of these adolescents is still violated, mainly due to prejudice and the predominance of a biomedical model of mental health care, based on indiscriminate medicalization and restricted access to non-drug therapies. In addition to these subjective issues, objective factors also contribute to this: the lack of physical infrastructure, the insufficient number of professionals in the CAPSi and the lack of a continuing education policy for professionals in the entire network of socio-education support services.

Concluiu-se que, apesar dos avanços conquistados, o direito à saúde desses adolescentes ainda é violado, sobretudo, devido ao preconceito e à predominância de um modelo biomédico de atenção à saúde mental, baseado na medicalização indiscriminada e no acesso restrito às terapêuticas não medicamentosas.
