Resumo: The tomato seedlings obtained by vegetative propagation have the same genetic characteristics of the plant. Internal factors such as hormonal balance and genetic potential, in addition to external factors, influence on rooting. The aim of this study was to determine the best type of substrate and IBA concentration effect on rooting of tomato cultivar Santa Cruz Kada®. For the seedlings production IBA concentrations were compared (0, 1000, 2000 and 3000 mg L-1) and tested as substrates: sand washed, carbonized rice hulls and commercial substrate (Turfa Fertil®). After 28 days the seedlings were taken and evaluated. Based on the results of this work, it is possible to consider that cutting is a suitable method for the propagation of tomato. There is no need for exogenous application of IBA to the rooting of tomato Santa Cruz Kada®, being the commercial substrate (Turfa Fertil®) and carbonized rice hulls viable for rooting.

There is no need for exogenous application of IBA to the rooting of tomato Santa Cruz Kada®, being the commercial substrate (Turfa Fertil®) and carbonized rice hulls viable for rooting.
