Resumo: Objective: To analyze concepts and other components of a proposal for a nursing diagnosis of risk for the development of delayed infants by identifying the attributes that make up this phenomenon in the literature. Methods: This is an integrative literature review. The search for studies was carried out in the PubMed, LILACS, Web of Sciene databases and in the Journal Human Growth and Development. The descriptors were used: growth and development, infant, developmental disabilities and risk, as well as the following keywords: delay, psychosocial development, maturational development, cognitive development, physical development and somatic growth, totaling eight crossings. Results: 218 articles were selected, and from these, it was possible to obtain three definitions of the phenomenon risk for the development of delayed infants, six items considered as populations at risk, 40 associated conditions and four risk factors. The risk factors extracted from the studies were: difficulties in feeding, inadequate nutrition, inadequate knowledge of parents or caregivers about child development and domestic violence. In populations at risk, neonatal and obstetric conditions and genetic and social factors stood out. Furthermore, among the associated conditions identified, we can mention congenital diseases, infections, and the performance of procedures, such as oxygen therapy and cesarean delivery. Conclusion: Therefore, given the complexity of the factors that influence the development of the infant, the importance of offering quality care, scientifically based, aiming at the surveillance of child development, including the detection of delays and abnormalities during primary care, is highlighted. the health.
