Traditional chinese medicine (TCM) was discovered over 2000 years , and the growing experience of Chinese society for the best way to prevent and treat diseases. Another theory of much importance to the base of TCM meridians are the foundation of which is to carry the qi and xue (blood), to maintain balance and conductivity, resisting external influences that can harm us. Then, with the development of Chinese society, the ancestors, they realized that the surface of the body showed lines and points that possess therapeutic effect or influence in the body system, which thus joining the other major foundations. Along with these fundamentals and the various existing techniques in Chinese medicine, handled for energy control, can be used to treat various types of pathology, such as muscle pain, facial paralysis, back pain, allergic rhinitis, depression, nausea and vomiting, pain after surgery, rheumatoid arthritis, insomnia, stress, obesity, adverse reactions to radiotherapy, widespread pain throughout the body, among other several diseases like headache. This paper aims to review literature on the treatment of acupuncture for headache, based on 20 scientific articles and case studies available in banks gathered scientific data in Capes ( Virtual Health Library ) portal. Many papers had as a conclusion the effectiveness of Chinese art in establishing an effective treatment for this disorder, but cautioned that in conjunction with normal medical care and medicine gets a more fruitful resolution, correlated to other relaxation and massage in parallel to the care of acupuncture as well as the concomitant use of medicinal herbs. Other studies found similar results to placebo, but which proved the efficiency demonstrate a significant improvement in quality of life of participants. Although these studies it can be concluded that acupuncture is very effective for the relief and treatment of headache, and recommended referral of patients with this syndrome affected to solve this pathology.Submitted by Tania Marques Ribeiro (tmarques@ucb.br) on 2014-08-14T20:12:34Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Ângelo Oliveira Amaral.pdf: 1431954 bytes, checksum: d9a17562740524caae87521f2101785d (MD5)Approved for entry into archive by Kelson Anthony de Menezes(kelson@ucb.br) on 2014-09-02T16:01:41Z (GMT) No. of bitstreams: 1 Ângelo Oliveira Amaral.pdf: 1431954 bytes, checksum: d9a17562740524caae87521f2101785d (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2014-09-02T16:01:41Z (GMT).
