Nesse sentido objetivamos estudar a criação de uma cooperativa de crédito e a sua contribuição para o desenvolvimento de uma cidade e sua população. Para o desenvolvimento desse trabalho, apresentamos a situação de uma cidade que, por falta da existência de uma agência bancária os seus habitantes ficaram privados de serviços e produtos financeiros, mesmo os mais básicos. Essa realidade causou gaves consequências ao município, que viu sua economia definhar. Nesse contexto, surge a ação de alguns cidadãos que não se conformaram em “deixar a cidade morrer” e encontraram, na criação de uma cooperativa de crédito, a alternativa para evitar que isso ocorresse. Dessa decisão, a vida econômica e financeira da cidade se recupera e ela se torna referência da importância do cooperativismo no desenvolvimento de uma cidade.Financial institutions, the characteristics of the services they provide to communities, tend to contribute to the development of a region. In this sense we aim to study the creation of a cred union an its contribution to the development of a city and its population. For the development of this work, we present the situation of a city that, for lack of the existence of a bank its inhabitants were deprived of financial services and products, even the most basic. This reality caused gaves consequences to the municipality, which saw its languishing economy. In this context, there is the action of some citizens who did not conform to “let the city die” and found int the creation of a credit union, the alternative to prevent this from happening.
