Computational modeling in a continuing education course: teachers' perceptions

This paper presents the analysis carried out in relation to one of the moments of a continuing education course, which was intended to assist basic education teachers in the use of technologies in the classroom. The course was held in ten meetings, eight in person and two at a distance. Involved 22 teachers from different municipalities of the Vale do Taquari, Rio Grande do Sul. During the course participants were constantly encouraged to develop activities using technologies in their pedagogical practice. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to socialize the results of applying a computer modeling activity involving Modellus software to explore the concept of Linear Motion (LM). The research was qualitative and the data collection instruments were questionnaires, photographs and audio and video recordings of the discussions held during the meetings. According to the analysis of the collected data, it can be inferred that the experience was significant, as the participants integrated software in their pedagogical practice. Therefore, continuing education may be one of the possible ways for teachers to start using technological resources, especially in addressing science.
