A new methodology proposal for the taxomorphological teaching of insects using a case study in Forensic Entolology

Resumo: This paper aimed to propose a new experimental methodology and investigation for the taxomorphological teaching of the insect class through a case study in Forensic Entomology, directed for High School. The proposal is based on Meaningful Learning Theory, Problem-Based Learning, and Investigative Experimentation. It is proposed to use a case study in forensic entomology, which will trigger the performance of a practical investigative activity entitled “Building a mini-corpse". In carrying out the experimental activity, students will actively collect adult and immature insects to solve the case study and accomplish their taxomorphological study up to the taxonomic category of Order. The conceptual bases used in this teaching proposal create an investigative and challenging environment, leading students to develop cognitive skills for problem-solving and to assume the role of active subjects in the construction of scientific knowledge, from the re-signification of previous knowledge. Finally, it is emphasized that the methodology proposed in this study, can serve as a subsidy for Biology teachers since investigative experimentation proves to be efficient and innovative for Science Teaching when compared to traditional teaching.

A proposta baseia-se na Teoria da Aprendizagem Significativa, na Aprendizagem Baseada em Problemas e na Experimentação Investigativa. Propõe-se a utilização de um estudo de caso em entomologia forense, que desencadeará na realização de uma atividade prática investigativa intitulada como “Montando um minicadáver”. Na realização da atividade experimental os educandos irão coletar ativamente insetos adultos e imaturos buscando solucionar o estudo de caso e realizar o estudo taxo-morfológico desses até a categoria taxonômica de Ordem. As bases conceituais utilizadas nesta proposta de ensino, criam um ambiente investigativo e desafiador, levando os estudantes a desenvolver habilidades cognitivas para resolução de problemas e assumir o papel de sujeitos ativos na construção do conhecimento científico, a partir da ressignificação dos conhecimentos prévios que possuem.
