Resumo: | This paper reports an experience of teaching radioactivity motivated by the Science, Technology, and Society (STS) approach and developed by students of the third year of a public high school in upstate Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The study aims to investigate the application of a didactic proposal guided by the constructivist design and structured upon an approach that considers the topic from the experiences of students. More specifically, the work seeks to create an alternative for teaching radioactivity and analyze the relevance of discussing the topic with students. To reach the main objective, the proposal was structured in eighteen periods or meetings, where ten of them were included in the schedule of Physics class of the third year of high school and eight took place in extracurricular hours. The meetings were organized in steps, each one structured to bring elements that allow assessing their relevance for content appropriation and for visualizing this process in the everyday life of students. The main motto of the study was the construction of concept maps before and after the discussions, and the formulation of questioning by students to an expert of the area. As a result, the validity of this type of proposal was verified, as well as how significant it is for students to be closer to Physics studies. |
