Statistical Teaching in the 2nd year of Fundamental Education: an experience in a classroom with the construction of graphs and tables

Resumo: This text is based on the analysis of the work carried out by a teacher of the 2nd year of Elementary School in the state education network of the state of São Paulo, participant in the research group of the Education Observatory Program, in order to verify the activities developed with the contents related to statistics, in the construction and analysis of charts and tables. The activities applied and described by the teacher were developed from the Mathematics Education Project in the initial years of Elementary Education-EMAI, of the State Secretariat of Education of the State of São Paulo. The theoretical bases for these sequences of activities were constituted from their participation in the research group of the Observatory of Education Project, collaboratively with the other participants. We used qualitative research in this work, with the case study method. We consider that, although the teacher presented gaps on the subject in its formation, both the materials available and the collective discussions in the collaborative group of studies contributed to its growth and development. As for the students' learning, the participation of the children in the activities was configured as an important way for learning to read and interpret data.

As for the students' learning, the participation of the children in the activities was configured as an important way for learning to read and interpret data.  Este texto se baseia na análise do trabalho realizado por uma professora que do 2º ano do Ensino Fundamental na rede estadual de ensino do estado de São Paulo, participante do grupo de pesquisa do Programa Observatório da Educação, com o objetivo de verificar as atividades desenvolvidas com os conteúdos relativos à estatística, na construção e análise de gráficos e tabelas. As atividades aplicadas e descritas pela professora foram desenvolvidas a partir do Projeto Educação Matemática nos anos iniciais do Ensino Fundamental-EMAI, da Secretaria Estadual de Educação do Estado de São Paulo. As bases teóricas para estas sequências de atividades se constituíram a partir de sua participação no grupo de pesquisa do Projeto Observatório da Educação, colaborativamente com os demais participantes. Utilizamos neste trabalho a pesquisa qualitativa, com o método de estudo de caso. Consideramos que, embora a professora apresentasse lacunas sobre o tema em sua formação, tanto os materiais disponíveis quanto as discussões coletivas no grupo colaborativo de estudos, contribuíram para seu crescimento e desenvolvimento.
