School curriculum: cultural selection and didactic redesigning

Resumo: Currently, in Brazil, the field of curriculum studies is strongly consolidated, counting groups of work and study, academic meetings, scientific magazines and research lines in Post-graduation programs in Education field, besides an increasing number of publications. Today, there seems to be accordance in divide the lines of thoughts about the curriculum into three different theoretical-methodological and ideological perspectives: traditional theories, critical theories and post critical theories of the curriculum. The aim on this study is to specifically think over the main categories and authors of the critical curriculum theories.  Therefore, it starts from a theoretical critical perspective of the curriculum, which comprehends it as a negotiated social construction, entangled in power relations. It is highlighted the importance of continuous investments in research about the History of the curriculums and school subjects, in order to comprehend how they were socially built in each historical, social, political and cultural context from different countries and in different temporalities.

Parece existir concordancia, hoy, en dividirse las corrientes de pensamiento sobre el currículo en tres diferentes perspectivas teóricas-metodológicas e ideológicas: teorías tradicionales, teorías críticas y teorías post-críticas del currículo. Nuestro objetivo en ese estudio es reflejar específicamente sobre las principales categorías y autores de las teorías curriculares críticas. Partimos, por tanto, de una perspectiva teórica crítica del currículo, que lo entiende cómo una construcción social negociada, enredada en relaciones de poder. Se fija la importancia de inversiones en pesquisas a respeto de la Historia de los currículos y disciplinas escolares, para que se pueda comprender como ellos fueron siendo socialmente construidos en cada contexto histórico, social, político y cultural de diferentes países y en diferentes temporalidades.No Brasil, hoje, o campo de estudos curriculares está fortemente consolidado, contando com grupos de trabalho e estudo, encontros acadêmicos, revistas científicas e linhas de pesquisa em programas de pós-graduação em Educação, além de um número crescente de publicações. Parece existir concordância, em se dividir as correntes de pensamento sobre o currículo em três diferentes perspectivas teórico-metodológicas e ideológicas: teorias tradicionais, teorias críticas e teorias pós-críticas. Nosso objetivo neste estudo é refletir especificamente sobre as principais categorias e autores das teorias curriculares críticas. Partimos, portanto, de uma perspectiva teórica crítica do currículo, que o entende como uma construção social negociada, enredada em relações de poder.
