Resumo: This study intends to analyze aspects such as education, work, leisure and art, from the reports of life stories made by the elderly in Jordão, located 17 km from the city of Sobral in the state of Ceará. In this perspective, the following theoretical references were used: Sousa; Lima (2016), Pena (2017), Fialho et al (2020), among others. The investigation was carried out through bibliographic research and application of a semi-structured interview. Finally, the assertions analyzed, according to the reports provided in the interviews, they stated that the new educational methodologies have hindered learning in the school environment. For the elders, the main reason given is the disappearance of the punitive character in education, common in the traditional method. However, even considering the knowledge and cultural aspects identifiable in the speeches of the elderly, it is important that the participation and productivity of the student be valued during the educational process, taking into account individual and collective aspects.

Nesta perspectiva, foram utilizados como referencial teórico Sousa; Lima, 2016, Pena (2017), Fialho et al (2020) entre outros. A investigação foi realizada por meio da pesquisa bibliográfica e aplicação de entrevista semiestruturada. Por fim, as assertivas analisadas, segundo os relatos fornecidos nas entrevistas, afirmaram que as novas metodologias educacionais têm prejudicado o aprendizado no ambiente escolar. Para os anciãos, o principal motivo apontado é o desaparecimento do caráter punitivo na educação, comum no método tradicional.
