Possessions of peasants in legal Amazon: roots of land conflicts in the state of Maranhão

Resumo: The protection of possessions of peasants in Brazil was influenced by the enactment of Law nº. 601 of September 18, 1850, Law of Property Land disciplinarian. These changes initially caused no impact on social relations in the Legal Amazon, that because of the vastness of the territory, the low population density, and the lack of an efficient road network to connection with rest of the country, however, in the decades from 1950 - 1980 agrarian conflicts erupted in the region, especially in Maranhão, influenced by the doctrine of the State Law nº.  2.979/1969, Law Land Sarney. This exploratory study based on literature review seeks to clarify the influences of these rules on conditions for reproduction and survival of the peasantry in Maranhão. Keywords: Maranhão. Agrarian conflicts.La protección de la tenencia de la tierra en Brasil fue influenciada por la promulgación de la Ley nº. 601 de 18 de septiembre de 1850, la Ley de Tierras. Estos cambios inicialmente no causaron impacto en las relaciones sociales en la Amazonia Legal, debido a la gran extensión del territorio, la baja densidad de población y la falta de una red vial eficiente para conexión con el resto del país, sin embargo, esta situación cambió gradualmente en las décadas de 1960 - 1980 cuando surgen en la región conflictos agrarios, especialmente en el estado de Maranhão, influenciado por la doctrina de esta norma y la cuestión de la ley estatal nº. 2.979/1969, Ley Sarney de la tierra. Este estudio exploratorio sobre la base de revisión de la literatura trata de aclarar la influencia de estas normas sobre las condiciones de la reproducción y la supervivencia del campesinado en Maranhão. Conflictos agrarios.A tutela da posse fundiária no Brasil fora influenciada pela edição da Lei nº. 601 de 18 de setembro de 1850, Lei de Terras. Tais mudanças de início não causaram impacto nas relações sociais na Amazônia Legal, isso em razão da vastidão do território, da baixa densidade demográfica e da inexistência de uma malha viária eficiente que a interligasse ao restante do País. Porém, esse quadro mudou de forma gradativa e nas décadas de 1960 a 1980 eclodiriam nessa região conflitos agrários, em especial no Estado do Maranhão, influenciados pela doutrina dessa norma e pela edição da Lei Estadual nº. 2.979/1969, Lei Sarney de Terras. Este estudo de cunho exploratório, baseado em revisão bibliográfica, busca explicitar as influências dessas normas sobre as condições de reprodução e sobrevivência do campesinato no Maranhão.
