Catholic schooling practices and their uses in the life of Elfrida Lobo: (Paranaguá, decades from 1910 to 1960)

Resumo: | This article aims to analyze catholic schooling practices and their uses in the life of Elfrida Lobo, between the end of the 1910s and the mid-1960s, using the ego document Retalhos de Uma Vida as a source. In the first part, the schooling practices experienced by Elfrida Lobo and provided to her by Colégio São José are investigated, bricolated with practices of catholic spirituality, but also transformed into educational practices in the daily education destined for Elfrida and her colleagues by the Sisters of Chambery. In the second part, the uses that Elfrida makes, in her adult life, of this repertoire of knowledge in the face of the facts that condition her life to maturity are studied: financial difficulties, widowhood, small children, the Christian faith, the desire for independence and a great inclination for the study of foreign languages. The conclusions point out that the teaching received at Colégio São José worked in many ways, although its purposes have been extrapolated to the intellectual expansion and financial and social independence of Elfrida Lobo through her training and professional performance. From the education received at the Catholic College and extended throughout her life, she made her own use. |

From the education received at the Catholic College and extended throughout her life, she made her own use.Este artigo tem por objetivo analisar as práticas de escolarização católica e seus usos na vida de Elfrida Lobo, entre fins da década de 1910 até meados da década de 1960, tomando por fonte o egodocumento Retalhos de Uma Vida. Na primeira parte são investigadas as práticas de escolarização vivenciadas por Elfrida Lobo e propiciadas a ela pelo Colégio São José, bricoladas com práticas de espiritualidade católicas, mas igualmente transformadas em práticas educativas no cotidiano da educação destinada à Elfrida e suas colegas pelas Irmãs de Chambery. Na segunda parte são estudados os usos que faz Elfrida, em sua vida adulta, desse repertório de saberes frente aos fatos que condicionam sua vida maturidade: as dificuldades financeiras, a viuvez, os filhos pequenos, a fé cristã, os desejos de independência e uma grande inclinação pelo estudo de línguas estrangeiras. As conclusões apontam que o ensino recebido no Colégio São José funcionou de muitas formas, ainda que as suas finalidades tenham sido extrapoladas para a expansão intelectual e independência financeira e social de Elfrida Lobo através de sua capacitação e desempenho profissional.
