Semantic values of the by the present tense in the Brazilian Portuguese: a study in blogs

Resumo: Despite being defined by Traditional Grammars (TGs) as the tense that designates the momentary speech, the Present Tense can refer to the past and even to the future. According to Fatori (2010), it is one of the most used tenses in the portuguese language, in the spoken and written modalities. Thus, following the variational approach, on this research, we analyzed the semantic values expressed by the conjugated verb forms of Present Tense found in a sample of current written Brazilian Portuguese (BP) composed of texts taken from Blogs. After mounting the corpus, we selected events of the Present Tense and then we analyzed according to the groups of factors that guide this work.

Segundo Fattori (2010), trata-se de um dos tempos verbais mais empregados na língua portuguesa, nas modalidades escrita e falada. Assim, seguindo a perspectiva variacionista, nesta pesquisa, analisamos os valores semânticos expressos pelas formas verbais conjugadas no Presente do Indicativo encontradas em uma amostra do Português Brasileiro escrito atual (PB) composto por textos extraídos de Blogs.
