Resumo: | The objective of this research was to analyze the trend in mortality from uterine cancer specified by ICD10: C53, C54 and C55 and the risk factors for cancer available on the death certificate. This is an epidemiological, cross-sectional, document-based study, held in a city in Southern Brazil. We used secondary data from death certificates, cytopathology reports, municipal health plan, and information form the SISCOLO and SIAB information systems. 2,910 cytopathological reports from 2004 to 2014, and 147 reported deaths from uterine cancer in the period 2007 to 2014 were analyzed. This study identified a high number of deaths from uterine tumors, mainly malignant neoplasm of uterus, unspecified. Moreover, it showed that the number of deaths is growing every year, especially in women over 65 years of age and with lower education. On the cytopathological reports, ASCUS and LSIL are highly evidenced. The age group most affected by the lesions was 25-59 with significant growth for LSIL in the age group of 12-24 years old. The time taken by the laboratory to release the exam results was considered feasible for most injuries. The follow-up of women with cytopathological diagnosis compatible with LSIL or more serious injuries was considered effective. Compared to agreed targets, the coverage of cytological exams was proved to be far from being achieved, requiring better structure for the active search of women for screening of cervical cancer. |
