PEDAGOGIC EDUCATION FOR COLLEGE PROFESSORS:A NECESSARY QUESTION FOR CURRICULAR ORGANIZATION

Resumo: Since the possible lack of a didactic and methodology for college professors has been recognized for quite some time, according to a number of studies (Pauib/UEM,1993 a 1996, Balzan, 1999, and others), the initial proposal of this article is to report some of the findings of a study that sought to verify if the provision of a training program for college professors would be reflected in the quality of the course and student satisfaction. The program mentioned sought to respond to rates of dissatisfaction of students to pedagogical practices of these professors revealed by a self-evaluation of the course. The public and institutional discussion of the findings of this evaluation demanded a solution. One of the responses to the concerns of students and professors who wanted changes was the program mentioned, which is analyzed in this article.

One of the responses to the concerns of students and professors who wanted changes was the program mentioned, which is analyzed in this article.O histórico de uma possível falta de didática e metodologia dos professores do ensino superior já vem de longa data, segundo diferentes estudos (Pauib/UEM,1993 a 1996, Balzan, 1999, entre outros), o propósito inicial deste artigo é relatar alguns achados de uma pesquisa que visava a verificar se, propiciando um programa de formação pedagógica aos professores de um curso de graduação, isso se refletiria ou não na qualidade das aulas e na satisfação dos alunos com o curso. O referido programa buscou responder aos índices de insatisfação dos alunos em relação às práticas pedagógicas destes mesmos professores revelados pelo programa de auto-avaliação do curso, o qual, sendo institucional, transformou o problema em tema de domínio público e institucionalizado. Isto exigia soluções.
