Resumo: An animal–drawn agriculture implement prototype was developed at the Mechanical Engineering Department, UFPB, which with few adaptations may be used in land tilling, sowing and weeding. Its performance was compared with a conventional cultivator in tilling and weeding operations, and with a sowing machine in corn seeds sowing. The experiment was carried out in a completely randomized design with fifteen repetitions and 6m wide and 15m long plots. The experimental data were statistically analyzed through “F” test. Promovendo adaptações, o equipamento pode capinar em substituição ao preparo do solo, semear e capinar. Avaliou-se o desempenho do protótipo, comparando-o com o cultivador convencional nas operações de preparo do solo e capina e com uma semeadora na semeadura de milho. Os experimentos foram realizados em delineamento de blocos casualizados, com quinze repetições e parcelas de 6 metros de largura e 15 metros de comprimento. Os dados experimentais foram submetidos a análises estatísticas, segundo o método convencional de comparação de variáveis, utilizando-se o teste “F”. Foram obtidas informações do custo dos equipamentos existentes no mercado e dos seus custos operacionais. Observou-se que o custo aquisitivo do protótipo apresentou um valor inferior ao dos demais equipamentos.
