Resumo: | This work was carried out to verify heat vapor and hot water efficiency on guava (Psidium guajava L.) against fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata) (Diptera: Tephritidae) (Wied.) eggs and larvae and the effect of these treatments on the fruits. The treatments in general didn’t influence negatively the fruit quality. The mortality was 95.58% and 97.83% for C. capitata eggs and 1st and 2nd instar larvae, respectively, at 46ºC. The treatment with hot water was better than vapor heat. Eggs, 1st and 2nd instar larvae of C. capitata were tolerant to heat treatment at, 42, 44 and 46ºC for quarantine treatments necessities |

Os tratamentos não influenciaram a composição química dos frutos. Na temperatura de 46ºC, a fase de ovo e de larvas de 1º e 2º ínstares de C. capitata apresentaram taxas de mortalidades de 95,58% e 97,83%, respectivamente. O tratamento com água quente foi melhor do que o tratamento com vapor.
