Resumo: Photographic, graphic and radiographic wastewaters contain, in its composition, silver and organic compounds that confer a high organic content. Those wastewaters are, commonly, treated for silver removal, but the organic matter also needs to be reduced, since the chemical oxygen demand (COD) is close to 120,000 mg O2 L-1.Therefore, the objective of this work is to study some processes capable of reducing the silver and COD photographic wastewaters concentrations. The precipitation with sodium sulfide (Na2S) and sodium chloride (NaCl), metallic replacement and advanced oxidation with Fenton’s reagent were studied The results showed that the Na2S precipitation and metallic replacement promoted the best silver removal, close to 100%, and the COD removal was around 10%. The experiments with NaCl did not promote satisfactory silver and COD removal and the Fenton’s reagent removed 40 and 70% of COD and silver concentrations, respectively.

Universidade Estadual De Maringá2007-12-18info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttp://www.periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/ActaSciTechnol/article/view/8210.4025/actascitechnol.v29i1.82Acta Scientiarum.
