BRAZILIAN SECURITY POLICIES IN THE FIGHT AGAINST DRUG TRAFFICKING IN THE AMAZON TRIPLE FRONTIER

Resumo: This article aims to analyse the Brazilian security policies aimed at combating drug trafficking on the Amazon border. It is understood that trafficking illicit material within the triple border is historically well-known, and it is still a common practice. Globalisation has contributed to the use of evolutionary smugglers over the years. After the great wars, the security studies were also extended and treated new issues that were insignificant before the warlike conflict. Hence, this article starts with the advancement of the Security Agenda, particularly contributions of the Copenhagen School, such as Security theory and Regional Complex, to understand the dilemma that involves the Triple Border.

Entende-se que o tráfico de material ilícito na tríplice fronteira é historicamente conhecido, contudo ainda se apresenta como uma prática frequente. A globalização contribuiu para que as técnicas utilizadas pelos contrabandistas evoluíssem no decorrer dos anos. Após o fim das grandes guerras, os estudos de segurança também apresentam uma expansão e passam a tratar de novas problemáticas que antes eram insignificantes diante do conflito bélico.
