Diagnosis of the consumption market of organic products in the municipality of Guaporé/RS

Resumo: The present study aimed to carry out a study of information on the supply of organic products in the municipality of Guaporé, describing the profile of consumers and the factors that affect consumption. Interviews were carried out with representatives of establishments that sold organic products and consumer surveys, through a questionnaire on Google Forms. In Guaporé there were no organic producer registered in the National Registry of Organic Producers, however, there were one vegetable producer in the process of organic certification. Organic products are sold by two supermarkets and a fruit market, mainly vegetables and fruits. The research participants were mostly female, married, aged between 21 and 50 years old and had high school or higher education. Most non-organic consumers are unaware of the existence of a seal. Of those who consume it, most are aware of its existence, but a low percentage consume products with an organic seal. The understanding of what organic food is very closely linked to the non-use of pesticides. The main reasons given for consumption are the health benefits, search for healthier foods, concern for the preservation of the environment, natural product and differentiated flavor. The difficulty in finding them and the higher price, when compared to conventional products, were the limiting factors for purchase indicated by non-consumers of organic products.

Se realizaron entrevistas con representantes de establecimientos que vendían productos orgánicos y una investigación con los consumidores a través de un cuestionario en Google Forms. En Guaporé, no había ningún productor orgánico registrado en el Cadastro Nacional de Produtores Orgânicos, sin embargo, había un productor de hortalizas en proceso de certificación orgánica. Dos supermercados y una frutería vendían productos orgánicos, principalmente hortalizas y frutas. Los participantes de la investigación eran, en su mayoría, del sexo femenino, casados, con edad entre 21 y 50 años y con estudios secundarios o superiores. La mayoría de los no consumidores de productos orgánicos desconocen la existencia del sello. Entre los consumidores, la mayoría conoce su existencia, pero un bajo porcentaje consume productos con sello orgánico. La comprensión de lo que es un alimento orgánico está fuertemente vinculada a la ausencia de pesticidas. Los principales motivos señalados para su consumo son beneficios para la salud, búsqueda de alimentos más saludables, preocupación por la preservación del medio ambiente, carácter de producto natural y sabor diferenciado. La dificultad para encontrarlos y el precio más alto, en comparación con los productos convencionales, fueron los factores limitantes para la compra indicados por los no consumidores de productos orgánicos.O presente estudo teve como objetivos realizar uma análise da oferta de produtos orgânicos no município de Guaporé, descrever o perfil dos consumidores e os fatores que interferem no consumo. Foram realizadas entrevistas com representantes dos estabelecimentos que comercializavam produtos orgânicos e pesquisa com os consumidores através de questionário no Google Forms. Em Guaporé não havia nenhum produtor orgânico no Cadastro Nacional de Produtores Orgânicos; contudo, havia um produtor de hortaliças em processo de certificação orgânica. Dois supermercados e uma fruteira, comercializavam produtos orgânicos, principalmente hortaliças e frutas. Os participantes da pesquisa foram na maioria do sexo feminino, casados, com idade entre 21 e 50 anos e ensino médio ou superior. A maioria dos não consumidores de orgânicos desconhece a existência de selo. Dos que consomem, a maioria sabe da existência, mas um baixo percentual consome produtos com selo de orgânico. O entendimento do que é um alimento orgânico está muito atrelado ao não uso de agrotóxicos. Os principais motivos indicados para o consumo são benefícios à saúde, busca por alimentos mais saudáveis, preocupação com a preservação do meio ambiente, produto natural e sabor diferenciado.
