Resumo: This research, situated in the field of Applied Linguistics, aims to investigate the literacies that are built in the carnival of the samba schools of Rio de Janeiro, understood as carnival literacies, and, especially, the practices of the Velha Guarda of the G.R.E.S Unidos do Viradouro, understood as bastion literacies. Literacies are conceived as constructed and socioculturally situated meanings, based on conceptions of Kleiman (1995), Rojo (2013), Souza (2011), Street (2014), Kress (2010), among others. The research hypothesis is that samba schools configure (WENGER, 1999) that generate multimodal literacies and are also generated by them, in a relationship of social-political-everyday interaction. In this way, the investigation seeks to focus on the Velha Guarda, aiming to reflect on memory, ancestry, everyday life, as well as other knowledges that inhabit the carnival of samba schools, which jtakes place throughout the year, through events such as feijoadas, visits to other cultural spaces, samba-enredo competitions, parties, rehearsals, among others. The qualitative research, with an ethnographic profile, is developed through conversations and direct observations of gestures, such as getting on the bus, signaling during rehearsals, using the fan and stick, in addition to practices and interactions, such as the use of the pavilion in funeral processions, parties, dances and rites. In this movement, written, visual and oral texts are also addressed, including images, photographs, videos, speeches, manuals and documents. It seeks to point out the re-existence (SOUZA, 2011) of the bastions of the samba school in question through ethnic-racial and decolonial perspectives, according to Lopes and Simas (2019), Sodré (1998), Gomes (2017), Mignolo (2003), Simas; Rufino (2019). The partial results of the research indicate the importance of recognizing popular knowledge and the Brazilian black diaspora, especially those coming from the samba schools of the carnival of Rio de Janeiro, since living and researching the carnival of schools is to contribute to the end of the erasure. of the samba dancers' narratives, systematically silenced.

Submitted by Antônio Luiz CEH/D (zergelprimo@yahoo.com.br) on 2023-11-08T21:14:34Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Dissertação - Danielle da Silva Martins - 2023 - Completa.pdf: 19468214 bytes, checksum: d68757b83f484ac97e9f74e91d449142 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2023-11-08T21:14:34Z (GMT).
