To interpret the meanings of the pilgrimage to the Pilgrimage to Nosso Senhor do Bonfim (Natividade-TO) is the central intention of this study. The time and space of the Pilgrimage takes place in the rural village of Bonfim and they are investigated in light of the cultural aspects that mark worship and devotion in that place. Pilgrimages on foot are understood as know-how, as well as the sacred dimension of the Catholic feast and the spiritual and religious motivations of the agents interviewed. The Romaria is analyzed as a practice and a social process that relates times, subjects and spaces. To see and feel the sacred translates a notion that contributes to the understanding of searches for the sacred space. Those are actions that configure multiple spatial arrangements and experiences and a singular polyivocality. Assuming a posture that follows directions of a cultural approach in geography, emphasizing the studies on religion, this research has qualitative character and assumes an attempt of writing and poetic interpretation. I defend the thesis that the geography of pilgrimages is essentially cultural, implying a physical and symbolic experience.
