O blog como tecnologia educativa em saúde: percepção de mães de crianças com gastrostomia

The need for gastrostomy brings with it a chronic condition, requiring continuous and prolonged care of the family. The transition of this child from hospital to home presents itself as a challenge for family members. The incorporation of differentiated methodologies is necessary to reach the objectives in the proposed educational actions. The objectives of this study are: To know the perception of the mothers of children with gastrostomy regarding the importance of building a blog as a health education activity; To identify from the mothers of children with gastrostomy content to be worked on a blog. This is a qualitative approach research. Seven mothers, who provided direct care to children with gastrostomy at home; were members of the preexisting support group for family members on social networks (Facebook and WhatsApp), and residents of the state of Rio de Janeiro, were interviewed. The interviews began after the approval of the Ethics Committee. After analyzing the speeches, four categories emerged: The importance of a blog built by experienced health professionals; The importance of building a blog due to the lack of information passed by health professionals; The importance of a blog built by health professionals as a tool to support the care of children with gastrostomy at home; Contents to be addressed on the blog according to the mothers’ suggestion. The study pointed to the importance of building the blog as an important health education tool. Mothers understand that this feature would make them safer and more confident to care for their child. The incorporation of differentiated methodologies in nursing may constitute an important strategy in the educational process for mothers to be instrumentalized in the care of children with gastrostomy at home.
