This research seeks to understand the construction of the journey of identity Community Health Agent (CHA) from the history of life. The objectives of this study were placed examine ways as were the principles and values that guide the practices of care and CHA to construct a narrative that encompassed as the contingencies and accidents produced directions for your route identity. For this, we used a qualitative methodology heterogeneous approach through Life History and Content Analysis. The first - Life History, according to Becker (1994) is the expression of a way of life, to know beliefs, values and desires of a population within the context of life of these subjects. Therefore, interviews were conducted with six CHA who work for at least two years in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The interviews were recorded and partially transcribed after accepting and signing the consent form. I believe that agents can operate together different ways of doing, since they affect and afetamentos suffer, while cross are crossed by different micro networks that generate solidarity and individualism, humanity or animosity interrelationships. In this context, the study concludes that although the majority of respondents did not choose a career in CHA, there was a willingness to learn the craft and a commitment to the task set out for professional practice. Allied to this, it was also found that the insertion in the profession was a way to get a formal job that guarantees a fixed monthly income. There is a desire to stay long in this profession by physical and emotional exhaustion that is strongly felt in the first year of work. Regarding the construction of sense of identity to the route of the CHA, the statements show an identification with the actions of aid and solidarity present in subjects' lives. And, among the values or principles that constitute the formation of a character or personal identity, which are crucial to tackling the health care of people, we highlight the sensitivity, listening, affection, care, ethics, friendship and otherness. In discussing the need for this work to be a resident of the area that will act, there was, from the narratives, that this requirement may be an easier approach. However, the quality of care is not directly related to this criterion that can generate distance and distrust of the other residents. Therefore, studies like this are justified so that we can reaffirm the importance of the SUS workers, especially the CHA. These now represent more than 200,000 public health workers and professionals are expected to be responsible for a health care respecting the differences between people, which does not overlap the disease and not subject to minimize the suffering due to the achievement of goals and producing data to be planilhados.
