This study seeks to understand the reasons that have contributed to the role of women in the social and political project under construction currently in the region called by Kurdish people as Rojava, in northern Syria. Unlike other movements for self-determination, as in nationalism narratives, in this project, women are actively participating in its construction, becoming protagonists of this movement, and they are placing the need for discussion of unequal gender relations, at the very moment of creation of this society. This study deals with the importance of the historical construction of an autonomously organized women s movement in the Kurdish nationalist movement, and to understand this framework, it s based on the theoretical discussions of Intersectional Feminism. An analysis is then proposed based on two specific moments, namely, the meeting of Kurdish women with their male comrades of the nationalist organization, and with Turkish Feminism. This work also has as background the historical development of the struggle for self-determination of the Kurdish people going through the nationalist narratives to the current project known as Democratic Confederalism , as well as the most recent struggle against the Islamic State.
