Resumo: The objective of this work was to evaluate the effects of different levels of inclusion of detoxified castor bean on the chemical-bromatological composition, in vitro dry matter digestibility, indigestible dry matter, indigestible neutral detergent fiber, carbohydrate and protein fractionation, pH , ammoniacal nitrogen (N-NH3), dry matter losses and aerobic stability of sugarcane silages. Five concentrations of detoxified castor bean meal (0, 5, 10, 15 and 20% of natural matter) were evaluated in a completely randomized design with five replicates each. The material was ensiled in plastic buckets, 32 cm high and 88 cm in diameter, with caps equipped with a Bunsen valve for the exit of gases from the fermentation and with 3 kg of sand in the bottom to drain the effluent. The silos were opened after 60 days of silage and samples were collected to determine the dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), neutral detergent fiber corrected for ash and protein (NDFap) and acid detergent fiber (ADF), total digestible nutrients (TDN), in vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDDM), pH values, ammoniacal nitrogen (N-NH3), total dry matter losses (TL), gases losses (GL), effluent losses (EL) and aerobic stability. The addition of castor bean increased the contents of DM, CP, LIG, IVDDM and pH, and reduced the contents of NDF, ADF, indigestible dry matter, N-NH3 and TDN. There was reduction of total carbohydrates and fraction B2 and elevation of fractions A + B1 and C. With the addition of castor bean crude protein increased, there was no difference in the means of fraction A of TN, the fractions B1 + B2 reduced, while there was increase in fractions B3 and C. The addition of 15% of detoxified castor bean meal improves the nutritive value of sugarcane silage, as it increases the crude protein content, improves the fractions of carbohydrates of rapid degradation and reduces the indigestible dry matter. The castor bean meal added to sugarcane silage is efficient in reducing ammoniacal nitrogen and dry matter losses. The stability break with addition of castor bean meal occurs between 30 and 50 hours of aerobic exposure.
