Introduction: Palliative sedation in terminality is an intervention to treat refractory symptoms and relieve suffering at the end of life. Contributing to a terminal process with less discomfort. Objective: To synthesize the knowledge produced in the last six years (2014-2019), about palliative sedation in terminality. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review of primary studies published in the time frame from 2014 to 2019 in English, Portuguese and Spanish, in the MedLine, PubMed and Lilacs databases, using search strategies, according to the specificities of each database. Results: 39 primary studies were selected from which the categories were extracted: a) indications for Palliative Sedation in Terminality; b) experiences of health professionals involved in the Palliative Sedation process in terminality; c) the environment where the Palliative Sedation process occurs in terminality; and d) feelings, beliefs and values of health professionals, patients and family members involved in the Palliative Sedation process in Terminality. Conclusion: The use of Palliative Sedation in Terminality, in patients with uncontrollable refractory symptoms can contribute to a death with less suffering, however, the development of this therapeutic method, in practice, still needs to be disseminated among patients, family members and the health team.
