Resumo: | Studies in Rhetoric point to the importance of analyzing and identifying as argumentative practices, arising from the relationships between ethos, pathos and logos, in a joint action, in different social spaces, in the specific case, the religious, make it possible to provoke the adherence of spirits to a given communicative purpose. Based on this understanding, this work goal to analyze the argumentative practices of Christian religious orators from the wild of Alagoas, highlighting the argumentative negotiation between social actors (orator and audience) of a specific communicative event: the oral sermon. This is defined as a genre belonging to the Christian religious discursive domain, in the oral language mode, in which religious leaders (pastors) use biblical texts in order to convince and persuade the social audience (pathos), understood as the members/faithful of the religious denomination to which they belong. Rhetoric, by its very definition, is understood as the art of convincing and persuading others through discourse, in the plane of ideas and emotions. Given this, this investigation followed a line of research of qualitative approach, with a descriptive and interpretative look, observing the data in a procedural and dynamic way. It was based on the theoretical references of Aristóteles (2011), Abreu (2009), Breton (1999), Ferreira (2015), Fiorin (2017), Marcuschi (2003, 2008), Meyer (2007), Mosca (2004), Perelman e Olbrechts-Tyteca (2014 [1958]), Plantin (2008), Reboul (2004), Santos (2018), among others. To perform the analysis, a corpus consisting of 5 (five) oral sermons recorded in audio during Christian religious celebrations in denominations of the rough of Alagoas was chosen. They were heard and transcribed from specific norms. Thus, of the 5 (five) sermons, only 3 (three) were randomly chosen for rhetorical analysis. This procedure was performed in order to identify how religious leaders/bosses (ethos) use rhetorical elements (arguments, places of argument, among others), aiming to convince and persuade the social audience. It was observed which arguments appeared most frequently during Christian religious discourse, which shows whether the persuasive discourse of the orators walked by logic, by reality, by the creation of reality or by the separation of notions. The analyzes performed in the oral sermon discursive genre provided evidence that arguments (the almost logical ones, those based on the structure of the real, the links that underlie the structure of the real and the dissociation of the notions) were used strategically, seeking to gain adherence and, above all, to convince and persuade the social auditorium. |
