Resumo: The deterritorialization of traditional communities can occur in many ways, going from the use of armed force and the Law to a complex and filled of subtleties process such as the one studied by this article, that reports on a careful research of land for tourism sales and purchasing documents, in a case study carried out in the County of Ilhabela, São Paulo State, Brazil, at the Curral neighborhood/ beach, with the caiçara population. In addition to the documents, this study also carried out qualitative interviews and a bibliographic review. By using observation, interviews, theoretical discussions and analyses, it is possible to apprehend that, in the contemporary world, the seduction involved in the sale of lands which makes the participation in the world of consumption possible, is key to understand this process, highly controversial in the community. On the other hand, the concept of territory seen as group, a community inheritance, can help with the construction of collective projects to prevent deterritorialization.

On the other hand, the concept of territory seen as group, a community inheritance, can help with the construction of collective projects to prevent deterritorialization.
