Resumo: The goal of this research was to conduct a technological forecasting about the use of sugarcane bagasse and its derivatives for the selective adsorption of sulfur compounds in diesel fuel. The research was based on the analysis of scientific documents from the Scopus and Web of Science databases, as well as the identification of patent applications using the Questel Orbit Intelligence® tool. The results indicated that sugarcane bagasse derivatives are promising adsorbents and can be applied in the removal of several chemical compounds, mainly present in wastewater. However, the use in fuel treatment is not a widely developed application.

A pesquisa se baseou na análise de documentos científicos provenientes das bases de dados Scopus e Web of Science, bem como na identificação de pedidos de patentes por meio da ferramenta Questel Orbit Intelligence®. Os resultados indicaram que os derivados do bagaço de cana-de-açúcar são adsorventes promissores, podendo ser aplicados na remoção de diversos compostos químicos presentes principalmente em águas residuais.
