An Overview of Using Industrial Design Protection in The Healthcare Sector

Resumo: Design proves to be an instrument in differentiating and adding value in all sectors, and can be protected by industrial design registration, which makes it possible to generate information that allows characterizing system users. The aim of this article is to analyze the use of industrial design protection in the health sector, providing an overview of this use in Brazil and internationally. Methodologically, an exploratory and qualitative perspective was used, using the industrial design databases of the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI), as well as the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), in order to draw an overview. As conclusions, it was possible to attest to the reduced use of this system by residents, to identify those countries that are most interested in protecting their creations within our market, as well as to identify the largest international users of the industrial design protection system, in Brazil, in health sector.

O objetivo deste artigo foi analisar o uso da proteção de desenhos industriais no setor de saúde, promovendo um panorama desse uso no Brasil e no cenário internacional. Metodologicamente, partiu-se de uma perspectiva exploratória e qualitativa, utilizando as bases de dados de desenhos industriais do Instituto Nacional da Propriedade Industrial (INPI), bem como da Organização Mundial da Propriedade Intelectual (OMPI), de maneira a traçar um panorama.
