Maria Teresa Carthery-GoulartDissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Federal do ABC, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Neurociência e Cognição, São Bernardo do Campo, 2019.Este trabalho tem por objetivo investigar como multilíngues acessam os significados pos-síveis de palavras idênticas que pertencem à sua língua estrangeira dominante e não dominante (homógrafos interlinguais). Bilíngues português-inglês e multilíngues português-inglês-alemão realizaram uma tarefa de julgamento semântico em inglês, enquanto potenciais evocados foram registrados. Multilíngues demoraram mais para responder a pares de palavras com homógrafos interlinguais cuja acepção em alemão geraria uma resposta oposta à correta na língua-alvo. A acepção não-alvo dos homógrafos interlinguais foi mais difícil de ser inibida quando estava semanticamente relacionada com o seu prime, gerando significativamente mais erros e um tempo de reação mais longo que nas outras condições. Na janela temporal do N400, bilíngues apresentaram o efeito de priming semântico, enquanto multilíngues não. Os nossos resultados sugerem que achados da literatura sobre interferência entre primeira e segunda língua também aplicam-se a segundas e terceiras línguas e dão suporte a modelos de acesso lexical não-seletivo como o BIA+ (Bilingual Interactive Activation +) de Djkstra e van Heuven (DIJKSTRA; HEUVEN, 2002).This study examines how multilinguals access the possible meanings of identical words that belong their dominant and non-dominant foreign languages (interlingual homographs). Portuguese-English bilinguals and Portuguese-English-German multilinguals were required to perform a semantic judgment task in English, while ERPs were recorded. Multilinguals were slower to respond to pairs of words with interlingual homographs whose reading in German would generate an opposite response than the correct one in the target language. The non-target reading of the interlingual homographs was harder to be inhibited when it was semantically related to its prime, generating significantly more errors and a higher RT than in other conditions. In the N400 time window, bilinguals had a semantic priming effect, while multilinguals did not.
