A relação da sociedade com o território passou por profundas transformações na segunda metade do século XX, e parte essencial dessa transformação se deu através de inovações tecnológicas que impactaram a capacidade e a forma de armazenamento e transmissão das informações pelo mundo. Para isso, é necessário refletir sobre como as transformações no modelo de armazenamento e distribuição da informação por parte da sociedade impactaram os territórios, formando novas espacialidades, e também quais os efeitos dessas transformações no nascimento de novas dinâmicas internas de produção e de transmissão de informação, retroalimentando o modelo de desenvolvimento econômico, social e político baseado na inovação tecnológica e promovendo transformações contínuas na forma como as sociedades se relacionam com os territórios. Tais transformações trouxeram impactos expressivos às sociedades, tornando cidades mais inteligentes e participativas ao mesmo tempo em que reproduzem as relações de dominação da sociedade industrial.This dissertation aims to study the relations between society and territory, mediated by new information technologies. The relationship between society and the territory has undergone deep changes in the second half of the twentieth century, and essential part of this transformation took place through the technological innovations that impacted the ability and form of storage and transmission of information around the world. For this it is necessary to reflect upon how the transformations in the model of storage and distribution of information by the society have impacted the territories, by forming new spatialities, as well as what are the effects of these changes in the emergence of new internal dynamics of the production and broadcast of the information, feeding back the model of economic, social and political development based on technological innovation and promoting uninterrupted transformations in how societies related to the territories.
