Análise temporal das agressões físicas contra a mulher sob a perspectiva da odontologia forense

The head and neck region is one of the most affected sites in cases of violence against women, a fact that makes the forensic dentistry essential in the field of bodily injuries. The objective of this study was to realize a temporal analysis of physical aggression against women at the Forensic Dentistry service of the Forensic Expertise of the State of Ceará between 2002 and 2017. This is a longitudinal, quantitative, time-series study. Secondary data were collected, through the forensic reports issued by the forensic dentistry service located in Fortaleza-CE in the period from 2002 to 2017. In 48.1% of the registered cases the women were between 30 and 59 years. In 42% were mild injuries, 86.3% of the reports indicated injuries by blunt instrument and in 31% affected only soft tissue. In most case (54%) the aggressor was either the partner or ex-partner of the victim and in 78.6% the aggressor was a man. The most frequent place of aggression was the public road. There was a change in the profile of aggressions and an increase in complaints after the “Maria da Penha” Law, which was carried out by older women and presented less severity injuries. Thus, there was revealed an effective impact that the “Maria da Penha” Law had on the physical aggression against women located in the bucomaxillofacial injuries.
