Resumo: The Ceramics Ltda. St. Hedwig came into operation in 1967 in the area located in Maracanaú which belonged to the town of Maraguape in Ceará. Today is the state’s oldest pottery in operation is worth high lighting that it is rented to another person who does not belong to the family of the founder. Throughout Its existence it only manufactured products such as red ceramic tiles combogós, PM6, sealing, ceramic blocks brick and solid blocks. This paper showed why this ceramic keeps ruing after so many years, as well as the difficulties encountered at the time such as obtaining raw materials fuel for sintering the bricks, urbanization in the vicinity of manufactures among other difficulties. Also this paper shows the advantages that make the plant still in operation. Currently the only manufactures ceramic blocks for the construction fence.

Currently the only manufactures ceramic blocks for the construction fence.A Cerâmica Santa Edwiges Ltda, entrou em funcionamento no ano de 1967 na área situada no município de Maracanaú, que pertencia ao município de Maranguape no Ceará. Hoje é a cerâmica mais antiga do estado em funcionamento valendo ressaltar que a mesma encontra-se alugada para outra pessoa que não pertence à família do fundador. Ao longo de sua existência ela fabricou somente produtos da cerâmica vermelha como telhas, combogós, PM6, blocos cerâmicos de vedação, tijolos aparentes e blocos maciços. O presente trabalho mostra porque a cerâmica continua funcionando depois de tantos anos, como também as dificuldades encontradas no momento, como a obtenção de matéria prima, do combustível para sintetização dos tijolos, a urbanização no entorno da fabrica entre outras dificuldades. Também este trabalho mostra as vantagens que ainda deixam a fábrica em funcionamento.
