To elaborate a social and ethnolinguistics glossary of de medicinal plants founded in the States of Bahia, Pernambuco, Paraíba, Rio Grande do Norte, Ceará, Piauí and Maranhão is the objective of the project. The Lexis of the Medicinal Plants in the Northeast: An Ethnolinguistics Approach, that is being developed in The Federal University of Ceará. The corpus is being constituted from the following parameters: places – street fairs, popular markets, specialized shops in medicinal plants, manipulation pharmacies, afro-religious places, specialized places that deal with medicinal plants and medicinal plants nurseries in cities of northeast states; informants – people who work in fairs, people who sell herbs, ordinary people, pharmacists, members of afro-religious places, people who deal with plantations, that is, people who work in any one of the processes related to medicinal plants. The terms and variations are being registered, the expressions that are present in oral modalities ( interviews with informants) and written (specialized literature, popular literature, string literature and tales) of the terminology of medicinal plants in the northeast, considering the morphosyntactic and lexical-semantic aspects. From the research, a semantic-lexical analysis of the formation process of the lexical of the words will be made and following that, the elaboration of a systematic glossary, with encyclopaedic, social and cultural notes of the medicinal plants of the northeast. This work intends to show how the research is being made and the partial objectives already reached.
